Pupillage
Pantheon Chambers offers pupillage every year. We seek highly motivated individuals with a strong learning mindset, excellent communication skills, and a desire to excel. Our pupils have the unique opportunity to work closely with counsel and be up close to the practicalities of casework and the ins and outs of being barristers, including how practices are built.

Pupillage at Pantheon is unique because of our emphasis on the continuing development of professional skills. Chambers has an extensive and detailed pupillage training program – in addition to pupil’s ALE obligations, including:

-
Mooting and advocacy training
-
Witness handling
-
Legal research and writing
-
Practice management
-
Use of legal technology

All pupils are expected to demonstrate an interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Pupils are expected to indicate to chambers if they intend to obtain further qualifications in arbitration and/or mediation so that Chambers can provide assistance and support.

Pupillage Scholarships
In line with our Chambers’ philosophy of excellence, integrity and justice, we offer valuable practical experience to aspiring barristers with top-of-market scholarships of up to HK$50,000 for each seat. In post-limited practice, we will provide guarantees of income up to the scholarship level. Our pupillage scheme will prioritize applicants interested in joining chambers after qualification.

Priority to tenancy will also be given to those who are awarded such scholarships. Eligible scholars are required to undertake a minimum of two seats of their pupillage at Pantheon (i.e. six months).

Application Process

Applications are processed once a year. Applications should be received before 30 April (at least a year before your intended commencement year). Starting dates of pupillage are flexible and year-round.
Applicants should write to the Pupillage Committee (pupillage@pantheonchambers.com) with the latest curriculum vitae, a cover letter sharing the reasons for interest in a pupillage at Pantheon, and attach academic transcripts and a legal writing sample. References are welcome but not required. Please DO NOT include a photograph of yourself.

Applicants will be shortlisted and given a pupillage interview with our pupillage committee.

Applicants who have previously participated in our mini-pupillage scheme will have an advantage.

Equality & Diversity

We are proud to be one of only two chambers with diversity & equality policies. We strive to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to encouraging diversity and inclusion amongst our staff, members and pupils, including supporting flexible working. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, regardless of age, disability, religion, pregnancy or maternity, sex or gender, sexual orientation, class or caste, ethnicity and nationality. We wish to support the inclusion of underrepresented groups in the legal sector. We are happy to make reasonable adjustments to enable disabled or neurodiverse candidates (including where a mental health issue is classified as a disability) to demonstrate their suitability for the position.
