HKSAR v Yeung Fong-chu [2024] HKCFI 569, HCCC 79/2022

Christie recently appeared for the defendant, who was found guilty of administering a stupefying or overpowering drug with intent to commit an indictable offence and attempted murder. Defendant believed her daughter was in danger due to hallucinations caused by her psychiatric disorder. Instead of ordering defendant to serve a period of imprisonment, the court sentenced her to a 12-month Hospital Order at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre, considering her diminished culpability and the need for treatment.
