Azan has recently been invited to speak on behalf of The Hong Kong Bar Association Sports Law Committee at a seminar on “Sports Arbitration and Mediation for the Hong Kong Sports Federation & Olympic Committee (“SFOC”)” co-organised by HKBA and The Law Society of Hong Kong.
With an upward trend of alternative dispute resolution, this seminar provided participants an overview of sports arbitration and mediation, covering the nature and benefits of arbitration and mediation in sports by having a discussion with other speakers about:
Sports law
Choice of law
Seat of arbitration
Rules of arbitration/mediation
Costs & confidentiality
The Court of Arbitration for Sport system
In order to examine the latest development about arbitration and mediation in sports, the session also consisted of current issues facing by the sports community and whether there should be a unified sports arbitration system in Hong Kong, with an interactive Q&A session before it came to the end.
