Case Update - Re M [2024] 5 HKLRD 658, [2024] HKCFI 2821

In a recent Hague Convention case, Romain successfully represented a father in securing the return of a child to Germany, overcoming significant challenges including apparent child objections and the mother's alleged travel difficulties.

The court accepted Romain’s arguments that the child's objections were influenced by brainwashing and parental alienation, and that the mother's situation was distinguishable from precedent cases cited by her counsel. Notably, the court also awarded full costs to the father, departing from the usual "no order as to costs" practice in children matters.

This case demonstrates our chambers' expertise in complex international family law matters, particularly those involving intricate issues of child psychology and parental influence.

Romain accepts instructions in a wide range of cases, including family law matters of various nature and complexity, both concerning financial and children disputes.
