Ronald has been previously invited to be one of the speakers at a seminar on 𝐀𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐠 - 𝐈𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 (jointly organised by HKIE YMC and CIArb (EAB) YMG).
When resolving construction contract disputes by litigation is normally considered to be time-consuming and costly, there are an increasing number of correlated disputes which are believed that they shall be settled by arbitration.
During the session, Ronald not only introduced the arbitration procedure and its interplay in Hong Kong construction industry to the young engineers, he also explained how arbitration as an alternative dispute resolution may benefit the parties, in terms of time, cost, flexibility and confidentiality. He additionally talked about the Arbitration Ordinance in Hong Kong and shared some case studies with a focus on construction arbitration.
Ronald is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and has experience with matters relating to both arbitration and mediation. In respect to arbitrations, he has experience as counsel and as a tribunal assistant in both domestic and international arbitrations involving construction particularly.
